City of Macomb Prepares For Emergencies with Telephone Notification System
Macomb, Illinois- October 15, 2012. When a crisis affects the City of Macomb, Emergency Management Officials must be able to reach residents instantly with warnings, information, and updates. In order to ensure that residents can be contacted quickly and effectively, the City of Macomb has begun using Global Connect’s Emergency Notification System, which gives municipalities the ability to call thousands of residents, staff members, and volunteers within minutes.
The emergency phone system will allow the Fire Chief, Police Chief, public Works Director, or Emergency Management Coordinator to record a message in their own voice and send that message to every telephone number listed in the directory within a matter of minutes. Whether residents need to be informed of a water main break, approaching storm, hazardous material spill, or other crisis, the telephone system is the most efficient way to reach them with the news.
The phone numbers that we have listed for this system currently do not include cell phone numbers. If you would like to include additional cell phone numbers please log onto http://cityofmacomb.com/fire_department.html Forms can also be filled picked up at City hall or the Fire Department. Any Questions please contact the Macomb Fire Department at 836-7800.
