Deposits
City ordinances require a $100 deposit from all renters. When service is discontinued, the final bill will be deducted from your deposit and the balance will be refunded in the depositor's name.

Billing-Payments
Bills are mailed monthly.

Delinquent Notices
Delinquent notices are mailed the day after the due date. Service is terminated if payment is not made within 10 days after the due date. There is a $30.00 service charge to restore service during office hours; a $165.00 service charge is billed to restore service after office hours.

Methods of Payment
Payments must be made by cash, check or money order. To pay by credit card, you may call Government Payment Services at (888)604-7888; 24 hours a day.  A nominal fee will be charged.

Night Drop Box
There is an after hour drop box located on the corner of the West entrance in the North parking lot behind City Hall.

Residential Waste

Trash is collected once each week. Your collection day is dependent on your address. The list of pickup days is below. Please keep the following simple rules in mind when disposing of trash:

Every resident shall place all residential waste into the provided proper receptacles (96, 64, 0r 35 gallon carts) for collection and take such receptacle to the curb for collection. Carts are provided by Waste Management.

No plastic bags will be picked up that is sitting beside the cart. All residential waste must be placed inside the cart.

Additional 96 gallon carts are available upon request from Waste Management for a cost of $3.00 per month per additional cart.

Recycling:

All recyclable materials must be placed in the 35 gallon cart with the yellow lid supplied by Waste Management and placed at the curb on your regular day of trash collection.

Additional 35 gallon carts for recyclable collection are available upon request from Waste Management for additional charge of $1.50 per month.  

Please place only recyclable items in the recycling bin - no garbage or other trash. Remove all lids from plastic, glass, and metal containers. Rinse out all containers. Labels do not have to be removed.  Rinse all containers.  Do not insert items inside one another, such as placing aluminum cans inside of metal cans, this makes sorting more difficult and more expensive.

What is recyclable?

Plastics:
Two types of plastic are currently being recycled. They are distinguished by the following numbers usually found on the bottom of the containers. Remove all caps and rings from containers.
Please no styrofoam, plastic salad/fruit containers, or plastic plates

1. PET
Typically clear and green soda-type bottles.

2. HDPE
Milk or water jugs, detergent bottles.

Please no Styrofoam, plastic salad/fruit containers or plastic plates or black microwave trays

Glass
Clear, green or brown unbroken glass jars, bottles, and jugs that contained food or beverages. Please no window, door or auto glass. Labels do not have to be removed.

Metals
Aluminum cans, tin cans, or bi-metal cans that contained food or beverages. Labels do not have to be removed.

Paper and Cardboard
Newspaper, envelopes, copy paper, corrugated cardboard, chipboard, manila folders are acceptable. Please do not bundle paper products with twine, tape or string.

Landscape Waste
Macomb residents will have their landscape waste collected on the same day as their trash collection from the 2nd week of March through the 2nd week of December each year. Landscape waste includes leaves, grass clippings, small tree limbs and branches.

Yard waste can be placed in either a garbage can or bagged in a Kraft paper yard waste bag. if a garbage can is used, please leave the lid off so th collector can easily identify it as yard waste. The Kraft paper yard waste bags can be purchased from various retailers in Macomb. Yard waste is plastic bags will NOT be collected.

Each bag, bundle or can must have a "City of Macomb" yard waste sticker attached and placed at the curb. Stickers may be purchased from the Contractor, City Hall, or at designated retail outlets within the city. The cost of stickers is $1.50 per sticker.

Small tree limbs or brush should be bundled and tied with twine - please NO WIRE. The bundles should be no longer than foru (4) feet in length and no larger than three (3) feet in diameter.

Large tree limbs, trunks and other bulky yard waste materials that can not be properly bagged or bundled will NOT be picked up. These items may be disposed of, free of charge for residents living inside the city limits, at the City's yard waste located on Tower Road.

 

Residential Waste and Recycling Pickup Schedule:

Monday
The north side of west Jackson Street, starting at the Courthouse Square and the west side of north Randolph Street, continuing north and west throughout the northwest quarter of Macomb.
Also includes Spring Lake Subdivision.

Tuesday
The south side of west Jackson Street, starting at the Courthouse Square and the west side of south Randolph Street, extending south through the west side of Maple Avenue, continuing south and west throughout the southwest quarter of Macomb.

Wednesday
The north side of East Jackson Street, starting at the Courthouse Square and the east side of north Randolph Street, continuing north and east throughout the northeast quarter of Macomb.

Also includes the area from the east side of Maple Avenue and the south side of east Grant Street throughout the lower half of the southeast quarter of Macomb. This includes Verzel, James Drive, Evergreen Drive, Pennyoaks, and Hidden Hills subdivisions.

Thursday
The south side of east Jackson Street, starting at the Courthouse Square and the east side of Randolph Street, continuing south to the north side of Grant street and east throughout the north half of the southeast quarter of Macomb.
